Helpful hints and tips

  1. Before removal day - contact all those people who will need to know you are moving with your new address details. We can’t list them all but everyone from the tax man to your dentist, magazine subscriptions, the DVLA, libraries and clubs etc.
  2. Don’t forget to de-frost the fridge and remember that you cannot turn it on again for eight hours after it has been moved.
  3. The removal vehicle will usually be a large lorry and we will need to park it outside your house. If that means blocking neighbours driveways, have a word beforehand, it will be appreciated.
  4. Make sure that our men don’t pack or load anything that you wish to take yourselves. Put all these things in one place and tell the crew foreman that they shouldn’t be moved.
  5. Keep an emergency box handy with things like passports our other forms of id which may be required for collecting keys etc.Include a toilet roll, first aid, basic food, kettle, tea, coffee etc.
  6. If you are packing your own effects, we will usually supply the cartons required as these will be of the proper size and quality to safely transport the contents.
Do not over fill them, if you can’t lift them then nor can we, remember that 25kg is the maximum weight allowed.
  7. Mark each carton with a brief description of contents and from which room they came.
  8. Boxes and cartons are loaded first, so don’t bury them under piles of furniture as it will all need to be moved first. The men will then load to maximise the space in the vehicle not by the room.

These are a basic guide to help you on moving day. When our crew arrives they will introduce themselves and be ready to get on with the move.

Let the foreman take control of the move and everything should run very smoothly and you will be settled into your new home before you know it!
